today we engaged in creating an “exquisite corpse” - writing the first line of a poem and allowing each person in the class to write the next lines - only in such a thing can you get this level of ridiculousness and vampire imagery. i thought i’d share it:
On explaining the Origin of Love,
I would start with the love of Adam & Eve
The shattered bite pulsed blood through hollow veins, not too full
He sucked the life out of her; dead
and there she lay, cold and still
not quite alive, not quite dead, in a beautiful state
there stays the beautiful girl
she is hidden from the world -
she is an Anne Frank impersonator
needless to say, she doesn’t get out much
always home, wasting, wasting, wasting away
i’m a balloon, i’ll float to the sky.
so free like a seagull
until alkaseltzer thrown by hoodlums arrives in the sand
a gang of gramps with colored suspenders
trying to be trendy, but failing obviously
yearning to fit the mold of society
a constant striving - a yearning for Peace.
